For off-road action, opt for the available electronic shift-on-the-fly 4WD. This system features a high range (4H) for extra traction at all speeds and a low range (4L) for low-speed power when tackling off-highway trails. For normal driving range, go with the two-wheel high range (2H). To help protect certain underbody components when off-roading, you can equip your Mark LT with available skid plates.

You can equip Mark LT with an available Class IV Trailer Tow Package which includes a frame-mounted Class IV hitch receiver, seven-pin wiring harness, heavy-duty 72-amp battery, upgraded radiator and auxiliary transmission oil cooler (the Trailer Tow Package is required for towing loads over 5,000 lbs.). The available Reverse Sensing System requires the Trailer Tow Package.
* Four-Speed Automatic Transmission. Keep it smooth. The standard four-speed automatic transmission with overdrive and Electronic Throttle Control (ETC) will respond to your throttle inputs to deliver smooth, seamless acceleration.

Safety Features
* Help in Hard-Braking Situations. A little more peace of mind. In hard-braking situations, the anti-lock brake system (ABS) can help you by electronically pumping the brakes for greater steering control and less wheel lockup. And thanks to another system feature, Electronic Brake Force Distribution, Mark LT manages the rear brakes to help ensure maximum capability under heavy vehicle load conditions.
* Keyless Convenience. The class-exclusive (2006 Mark LT vs. 2005 competitors) Keyless entry keypad on the driver's door lets you unlock the doors when you enter your personalized code. With the remote Keyless Entry System, simply push a button on the key fob and you can unlock Mark LT's doors from up to 33 feet away. There is also a panic alarm on the key fob that flashes the headlamps and sounds the horn.
* Lower Anchors and Tether anchors for CHildren (LATCH). For your younger passengers, Mark LT features the LATCH System in all second-row seats. The system's mounting anchors and tether anchors make securing compatible child-safety seats simple.
* SecuriLock (R) Passive Anti-Theft System. Another way Mark LT helps you feel secure. This system is designed to help prevent the engine from being started unless a coded key programmed to your vehicle is used. Its standard perimeter alarm system automatically arms after the key is removed from the ignition and sounds the alarm if an unauthorized attempt is made to enter the vehicle.
* Standard Personal Safety System (R) for Enhanced Protection. Safety at a personal level. The Personal Safety System controls airbag (Always wear your safety belt and secure children in the rear seat) energy deployment levels and safety belt tension in certain frontal accidents.
